WINTER MAINTENANCE UPDATE 7

Mostly fine this affternoon and this evening, but a band of sleet and snow will move down from the northwest from 10pm onwards (perhaps 8 or 9pm in extreme west), clearing southwards by 2/3am. Thereafter there will be some clear spells, but a freshening north to north-east wind will start to feed scattered heavy snow showers in off the North Sea, these continuing on and off through Tuesday. RSTs well below zero with widespread ice.

 

A general 2-5cm of fresh snow expected with 5-10cm possible in hilly parts.

 

Actions

 

Northern area – Standby pm and am.  All depots to be manned overnight. 

Southern area – Standby 6pm and am.  Work to continue overnight until at least 9am and may continue after this time depending on conditions. 

 

RSTs well below zero.  Snow showers in all areas.

 

Streetscene and Refuse

Recycling and refuse collection continuing as normal in all areas of the County.  Where there are still problems with access crews will continue to try and access this week where there have been missed collections.

Continuing to clear footpaths in all areas.

 

Weekend 3/4  January 2009

Northern area – RSTs well below zero.  Snow showers in all areas.

Southern area – Sunday remained very cold and there were frequent snow showers during the morning.  The showers became fewer in the afternoon although there were still a few drifting in from the north.  During the evening and overnight, it was dry with largely clear skies.  It was another very cold night with RSTs remaining well below freezing.  

 

Actions

Northern Area – snow salt at 6pm and 4am.

Southern Area – snow salted pm (all areas) and am higher areas; pre salted most areas am
