BEARPARK RESURFACING WORKS and Traffic Calming on Hilltop Road

Last year I asked for the main road through Bearpark to be resurfaced, and the first stretch down past Aldin Grange was done. The remaining work through the village has been finished this week and looks great. I  have reported one issue outside Wayside Court regarding the surface. After this type of work is carried out, a number of sweeps of the road with the roadsweepers are carried out over a couple of weeks until loose material has been removed and the surface settled. New road markings will then be carried out.

We have asked for the highways team to look at additional SLOW markings as well as the possibility of marking out more parking bays along the road which helps to reduce speeds and protect parked cars. Hopefully these improvements will make a real difference to the village.

HILLTOP ROAD

A consultation is currently taking place with regards to traffic calming along Hilltop Road. Since becoming your county councillors, Rev and I have been looking at traffic calming in a variety of locations. This is one which residents have raised as a problem location and we are pleased to be looking at carrying out this work. Providing the consultation shows that residents want this to go ahead, the money is available to carry out the work from the Highways budgets we are given. Please get in touch with either of us if you want to discuss this or any other road safety issues.
