SNIPERLEY ROAD CLOSURE

The A691 Sniperley Grove, between Sniperley Roundabout and The Park and Ride is to be closed this Saturday to carry out resurfacing works. I asked in February last year for repairs to be done and am glad to see that a more permanent resurfacing is being carried out.

A691 Sniperley Grove, Durham

Temporary Road Closure

The County Council intend to close to vehicular traffic including pedal cycles from 7.00am on Saturday 10 March 2012 a 315 metre length of A691 Sniperley Grove between its junctions with A167 Sniperley Roundabout and the A691-A167 Sniperley Park and Ride access road, Durham.  Consequently it will also be necessary to temporarily suspend the prohibition of entry except buses restriction on the A691-A167 Sniperley Park and Ride Link road as detailed in the County Council of Durham (Belmont, Howlands and Sniperley Park and Ride) (Prohibition of Entry) Order 2005.

The closure, which is being effected by means of Notice under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,   is necessary to enable carriageway resurfacing works, which will probably take some 12 hours to complete, to be carried out to that length of road.

Throughout the period of closure an alternative route will be available to vehicular   traffic from the eastern side of the closure from Sniperley Roundabout, northwards via A167 and westwards via the A167-A691 Sniperley Park and Ride access road to the western side of the closure and vice versa.
