Walkabout in Framwellgate Moor keeping on top of Anti-Social behaviour

Police, housing officers, neighbourhood wardens and the local County Councillor carried out a walkabout in part of Framwellgate Moor today. Residents concerns about localised anti-social behaviour incidents around Newton Drive and adjoining streets were being addressed along with other local issues.
Councillor Mark Wilkes who attended the event, organised by Durham Police commented “We have seen a huge fall in anti-social behaviour incidents across the wider area of more than 50% in the last year or so, but to make sure that this stays the case the police recommended some more visible action to deal with specific issues. I am pleased to say that action on rowdy behaviour in particular, but also littering, untidy properties and overflowing bins is being dealt with. Today’s walkabout will have reassured local residents.
Councillor Wilkes complimented the the police for their quick response to local problems as well as council litter pickers for their continued hard work in the area. His request for a road sweeper to clean up Lund Avenue, Newton Drive and Gray Avenue was actioned even before the walkabout had finished.
The councillor is also asking that residents make sure that bins were put out for collection regularly to avoid overflowing rubbish and some residents will be reminded of timetables and contacted to see if any help is required.
If any residents become aware of any local anti-social behaviour issues they are asked to contact the Durham Police non-emergency line or to get in touch with the Council, Cllr Wilkes or neighbourhood wardens, so all organisations concerned can crack down on problems immediately.
