Following on from the improvements which your county councillors secured to bus services in Brasside, more good news.
There will now be a bus every half an hour instead of just one an hour or less as before.

The new service will run by Scarlet Band on the opposite half hours to Arriva and will go from Brasside to Pity Me, Framwellgate Moor and North Road on Mondays to Fridays.

Improvements to bus services in Durham Village
A Durham village which was left without an hourly bus service last year is seeing a further improvement in bus services.
Brasside near Durham City saw its bus service cut to less than one service an hour last year before councillors intervened. Durham County Council provided funding to ensure morning and school run services were protected.
Now the village has seen a further improvement with local bus company Scarlet Band offering a service from the village, to the Arnison Centre and on into Durham City via Pity Me and Framwellgate Moor.
Councillor Amanda Hopgood comments “Arriva and Scarlet Band will now offer alternative half hourly services Monday to Friday. This is a significant improvement on last year and a step in the right direction. It Is a particular boost for many elderly residents who do not have access to a car.”
The Arriva service will operate at 25 minutes past the hour, whilst Scarlet Band will run a service at 57 minutes past the hour. Local councillors are delivering a leaflet to every house in the village to try and boost usage of the service.
Councillor Mark Wilkes who has been out delivering leaflets comments “It is really important that residents use the new service. It is also of benefit to other residents wanting to get to North Road and the Arnison Centre and will run through Pity Me and Framwellgate Moor.”
Councillor Mamie Simmons comments “In the future we want to see evening and Sunday services resume as well but this requires more residents to use the services.”
The new services run until 17.40 and a Saturday service continues to run hourly by Arriva .
